Pay attention to these matters when installing the valve

General rules for valve installation

1. The position of valve installation should not hinder the operation, disassembly and maintenance of equipment, pipelines and valve bodies themselves, and the beauty of the assembly appearance should be taken into consideration.

2. For valves on horizontal pipelines, the valve stem should be installed upward or tilted at a certain angle, and the handwheel should not be installed downward. Valves, valve stems and handwheels on ground pipelines can be installed horizontally, and the opening and closing of the valves can be remotely controlled by a vertical chain at a low position.

3. The display should be symmetrical, uniform and beautiful; for valves on risers, under the premise of process permission, the valve handwheel is most suitable for operation at chest height, generally 1.0-1.2m above the ground, and the valve stem must be installed in the direction of the operator.

4. For valves on parallel risers, the centerline elevations must be consistent, and the net distance between handwheels should not be less than 100mm; valves on parallel horizontal pipelines should be staggered to reduce the pipeline spacing.

5. When installing heavier valves on equipment such as water pumps and heat exchangers, valve brackets should be installed; when the valve is frequently operated and installed more than 1.8m away from the operating surface, a fixed operating platform should be installed.

6. If there is an arrow mark on the valve body of the valve, the direction of the arrow is the flow direction of the medium. When installing the valve, be careful to make the arrow point in the opposite direction of the flow direction of the medium in the pipeline.

7. When installing flange valves, ensure that the two flange end faces are parallel and concentric to each other, and do not use double gaskets.

8. When installing threaded valves, for ease of assembly, one threaded valve should be equipped with a live joint. The setting of the live joint should take into account the convenience of maintenance. Usually, the water flows through the valve first and then the live joint.

Precautions for valve installation

1. The valve body material of the valve is mostly made of cast iron, which is brittle, so it must not be hit by heavy objects.

2. When transporting valves, throwing them at will is not allowed; when lifting and hoisting valves, the rope should be tied to the valve body, and it is strictly forbidden to tie it to the handwheel, valve stem and flange bolt hole.

3. The valve should be installed in the most convenient place for operation, maintenance and repair, and it is strictly forbidden to bury it underground. Valves on pipelines directly buried and in trenches should be equipped with inspection wells to facilitate the opening and closing and adjustment of the valves.

4. The threads should be ensured to be intact, and hemp, lead oil or polytetrafluoroethylene raw tape should be wrapped on the threads. When turning the buckle, a wrench should be used to clamp the hexagonal valve body screwed into one end of the pipe.

5. When installing flange valves, pay attention to tightening the connecting bolts in the diagonal direction, and the force should be even when twisting to prevent the gasket from running off or causing deformation and damage to the valve body.

6. The valve should remain closed during installation. For threaded valves close to the wall, it is often necessary to remove the valve stem, valve disc and handwheel before turning. When installing, the handwheel should be screwed in to keep the valve open before installation.
