Differences between soft and hard seal butterfly valves

The material used to seal the valve seat of the soft seal butterfly valve is non-metallic materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene, rubber or plastic. The sealing valve stem and the centerline concentric structure of the valve plate are usually designed on the same surface.

When installing the soft seal butterfly valve, there is no need to distinguish the inlet and outlet conditions and it can be installed in both directions at will. The sealing performance of the soft seal butterfly valve is soft sealing performance, but such performance is not very resistant to high temperature and high pressure. It can only be used at normal temperature, but it has better wear resistance.

The sealing form of the hard seal butterfly valve is relatively simple, so when it is installed, it needs to be consistent with the arrow on the valve indicating the position of the outlet installation. The hard seal butterfly valve can be used well under all conditions and has better wear resistance. However, its manufacturing cost and installation cost are relatively high compared to the above cost.
